While mass is a quantity independant of the location where it is measured, the weight (or force) is changing with the respective acceleration of gravity. For Earth this converter uses the standard acceleration of gravity of 9.80665 m s-2; at the other locations the acceleration of gravity is calculated from the mass and the radius. Different units for massand force may be converted with special converters.

At first choose the location from the pull down menu. Type the value of you want to convert into the field, behind which you find the unit. Click on the corresponding button and read the results in the other fields. Use the “reset” button to reset your calculation.

Example: What is the weight of a mass of 70 kg on the moon and on Venus. First of all choose the moon in the pull down menu. Type the value of “70” into the field behind the “kg” button. Click on the “kg” button or any free space of the window. Read the result in the field in front of the “kp” button (11.585 kp). Now choose Venus in the pull down menu. Click on the “kg” button again (The field in the front should still read “70”). Read the result again in the field in front of the “kp” button (62.135 kp).

Remarks:
– All results have been rounded to 5 significant digits.
– Large and small numbers are written exponentially. As example 2.3e5 = 2.3⋅105 = 230000 or 4.5e-5 = 4.5⋅10-5 = 0.000045.
