Lower heating value
There are two different types of heating value, the lower heating value (LHV) and the higher heating value (HHV). The lower heating value (or net calorific value or lower calorific value) is the amount of heat released during the combustion of a specific amount of fuel.
The lower heating value is numerically equal to difference between the higher heating value and the amount of heat required to the separation of water contained in fuel, and also the water produced in the hydrogen combustion process. In technique, the water vaporization heat at 0 °C is 2500 kJ/kg
This calculator allows to compare how much energy is released when a certain amount of fuel is burned. For each kind of fuel a lower heating value in one decimal place is given in the bottom right corresponding field. If needed, these values may be changed.
How to Use:
Type your given energy values into the the top fields with the corresponding values or type the amount of fuel into a corresponding bottom left field. Click on any free space of the window or the “calculate” button and the calculation will be performed. You can use the “reset” button to reset the process.
